Molesworth Station holds a special place in the hearts and minds of New Zealanders, there is so much to discover from the amazing scenery, special plants to the fascinating stories. We have created a unique biking tour where you can experience biking in this remote and sometimes harsh environment in a fully supported and safe manner. 486,000 acres in size, it is part of the provinces of Marlborough, Nelson and Canterbury it is a formidable piece of New Zealand high country.

DAY ONE (approx. 40 KM Ride)

9am pick up from Hanmer Springs in North Canterbury, enjoy the drive up the Western side of Molesworth Station, commence your ride in magnificent high-country scenery, biking from Lake Tennyson to Hanmer. Arriving back in the alpine village with time for a soak in the thermal hot pools before a group dinner in the village tonight.

DAY TWO (approx. 40km ride)

Departing Hanmer Springs in your support vehicle we drive westward to the Lewis Pass saddle to start your ride on the Maruia trail an off road forty km ride to Murchison through native bush and farmland. A good variety of safe biking today with overnight accommodation in Blenheim, enjoy a riverside dining experience tonight.

INCLUSIONS Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, dinner, and accommodation central Blenheim Motel.

DAY THREE (approx 35km ride)

Departing at 8.30am to drive to the start of your ride, 20kms south of Blenheim in the Awatere Valley. Bike in sections with breaks during the morning, stopping to enjoy a homestead farm visit for lunch on a generational farm. Enjoy a ride further up the valley to our overnight accommodation at one of NZ’s most remote stations, set in the mountains of the upper Awatere Valley arriving about 5.00pm. Relax in quality accommodation and enjoy excellent cuisine tonight.

INCLUSIONS Breakfast, morning tea, lunch and dinner and accommodation at Middlehurst Station.


DAY FOUR (approx 30km ride)

After a farm style breakfast enjoy the picturesque cycle ride to the start of Molesworth Station for morning tea.  We cycle on the flatter sections on the station, enjoying a picnic lunch in the high country, ride along the Acheron River reaching Hanmer Springs approximately 5.30pm.

BIKES IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR OWN Mountain bikes with thick tyres are recommended and shock absorbers are not essential but will make the trip more comfortable, make sure it is in good condition and has been recently serviced and you have a spare inner tube.



You will need a moderate level of fitness with some off-road experience biking on shingle surfaces.


MEDICAL CONDITIONS In the interests of your safety please ensure you disclose any medication that you are taking or ant medical conditions or allergies that you have. The information form is the ideal place to disclose any information however if you prefer to talk to us in person please do not hesitate to contact us.


WEATHER CONDITIONS In Marlborough we have around 2,350 hours of sunshine with New Zealand’s average being 2,000 hours. Over the spring and summer months remember to apply sunscreen and wear a hat between 11am and 4pm.

Summer Climate for January, February and March tours High country temperatures are always a bit lower with warm temperatures, which are still comfortable for biking.

Autumn Climate for late March to April weather is getting cooler with some overnight frosts, but fine days overall.

LUGGAGE we will have plenty of storage space, but we urge you to keep your luggage to a minimum. Please limit yourself to 18 kgs; two smaller bags are better than one large heavy bag. Travel packs, sports bags or soft sided suitcases are the easiest way to store and access your luggage.


FINAL PAYMENT:  Is due one month prior to your tour departure date.

DEPOSITS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND POLICY: A non-refundable deposit of $300 per person is required to confirm your tour. Should you have to cancel there is the option of transferring to another tour date. Cancellations received after final payment has been made 50% of trip value will be refunded. We understand that cancellations can occur due to illness or unexpected event therefore we recommend that you take out comprehensive travel insurance.


Deposit $300 per person on booking. Balance is due two weeks before your tour departure.
