Soldiers Block Hanmer Springs

28 Amuri Avenue

Set in the heart of the Queen Mary Historic Reserve, The Soldiers' Block has been restored to its former splendour.

It is once again open as a multi-purpose facility, hosting a community centre and in future, a wharenui and interactive visitor experience.

A tranquil healing space for returning soldiers from the first and second world wars, a sanctuary for addiction recovery and a centre for local Māori treatment, this historic building has embodied many forms to shelter across its lifetime.

The Soldiers Block is often open for visitors to come, explore and learn of its history.
