Kakapo Lodge

Closest hostel to the Hot Pools. Lovely views of the mountains. Lovely sunny decks and courtyard. Warm, cosy under floor heating and log fire in the winter. We have a variety of rooms available, dorm, twin, family, ensuited rooms and self contained.

Kakapo Lodge Backpackers, Hanmer Springs YHA is a two-storey backpackers lodge with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We are located a 2-minute walk from the thermal reserve and the village centre.

Enjoy the summer sunshine outside up on the sunny decks or read a good book down in the peaceful garden. Make the most of the evening sun and do all your cooking outside on the BBQs provided.

Winter is warm at Kakapo Lodge with a log fire and under-floor heating as well as extra duvets and blankets on request. On those cold nights cook up a storm in our large communal kitchen and dining room.

We have a range of DVDs for hire, which can be watched upstairs in the Lounge. Or you can grab a book from our Book Exchange to read during your stay.
