Matariki Star Gazing and Grazing at the Thermal Pools

As part of the MainPower Alpine Winter Festival, The Matariki Star Gazing and Grazing at the Thermal Pools is an adults-only night offering a relaxed and indulgent way to celebrate the Māori New Year in true alpine style.

Guests begin the evening with a beautifully prepared grazing platter, featuring a selection of local flavours to enjoy before heading into the pools.

After dining, they can unwind in the warm thermal waters while experts guide them through the Matariki star cluster, sharing stories about its cultural significance, meaning, and connection to reflection and renewal.

As the night sky opens above, the combination of good food, soothing pools, and celestial storytelling creates a calm, atmospheric experience designed for connection, celebration, and quiet winter magic.
