The Four Square Hanmer Half is Hanmer Springs' premier trail run, taking runners through the stunning Hanmer Heritage Forest under towering 100-year-old trees and golden autumn colours. Choose from the 21km Hanmer Forest Trail — starting with a climb up Conical Hill for breathtaking views — or the flatter, scenic 10.5km Heritage Traverse. Running since 1981, the event is proudly owned by the Hanmer Springs Community Trust, with proceeds supporting local initiatives like the Hanmer Springs Health Centre. Race day is Saturday 1 May 2027 — come for the run, then stay to soak, eat and explore.

Entries open 2 September 2026 via Race Roster, with race day set for Saturday 1 May 2027. Runners can choose between two distances: the 21km Hanmer Forest Trail, a true adventure starting with a climb up Conical Hill before descending into some of the forest's best running trails, or the 10.5km Heritage Traverse — a flatter, more relaxed course through 100-year-old woodlands, sometimes called the "half of a half." The event is proudly owned by the Hanmer Springs Community Trust, with proceeds supporting local initiatives including the Hanmer Springs Health Centre, and is managed by Nduro Events. Why not make a weekend of it — run, then relax, soak in the thermal pools, and explore the village.
