Hurunui is home to some of New Zealand's best beef, lamb and venison, and is home to the flourishing North Canterbury Wine Region. With a heavy influence on farm to plate, here are a couple of our favourite 'Tastes of summer'.
Tawanui Farm:
Tawanui Farm serves up and sells their farm produce to guests, and the wider community. Those glamping, or experiencing a farm tour or energy jet ride and bbq experience can enjoy the taste of grass-fed animals. The family have just launched a limited number of meat boxes.
Number 31:
Number 31 restaurant specialises in Beef & Lamb. Head chef, Shane Buckler is a NZ Beef and Lamb Ambassador and has clocked up numerous NZ Beef and Lamb awards for his inspired dishes, using locally-sourced/farmed produce.
The North Canterbury Wine Region:
The North Canterbury Wine Region is best known for its aromatics. Visit any one of the 90+ mostly family-run vineyards in this award-winning wine region to sip on some award-winning wines in picturesque cellar doors and restaurants.
