Hanmer Springs has an exceptional number of biking tracks circling in and around the village. From easy riding trails to challenging tracks that will have you concentrating to stay on the bike. The town's i-SITE centre has brochures will all the details on them.
Further afield, the St James Cycle Trail was the first of the Great Rides to open as part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail. It's a 64-kilometre trail that offers some stunning scenery - soaring mountain peaks, crystal clear rivers, alpine meadows, beech forests and grassy river flats. There is also a shorter 15 kilometre loop which is family friendly. You can get more information here.
