The first-ever Hanmer Springs Alpine Winter Festival kicked off this year with a huge line-up of events.
The month-long winter festival held throughout July was a wonderful way to bring the community together and celebrate the very best of winter in one of New Zealand's most picturesque alpine villages.
With over 20 different events for attendees to enjoy, there truly was something for everyone. There were relaxing night-time swims at the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pool and Spa, a yoga retreat with motivational speakers, a glowteering family challenge and daily skating in the dedicated ice rink.
People flocked from all over the country to make the most of the village-first.
“It’s my favourite part seeing everyone’s big smiles as they come off the ice, or venture on for the first time. A lot of people had never skated before, so it was a really big deal for the kids to come and try it out,” says Danielle Mueth from Paradice Entertainment.
A highlight for the month was the inaugural Winter Fete, run by the same wonderful team who brought us the Hanmer Springs Fete.
The event attracted some pretty cool visitors and coverage.
