About Weka Pass Railway - Public Running Days
This is a historic rural railway using both vintage steam and diesel-electric locomotives on 12.8km of scenic line From Waipara, through the unique limestone beauty of the Weka Pass, to Waikari.
Public trains run every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month and most public holidays. Trains will usually be hauled by 1909 built "A" Class "Pacific" steam locomotive number 428, the only one of its type still operational. However A428 may be replaced by a vintage diesel locomotive during occasions when unforeseen circumstances arise.

The Weka Pass Railway is based at Waipara, approximately 60km north of Christchurch. Turn left at the SH1 and SH7 junction and then take the first right (Glenmark Drive), follow the signposts to find Glenmark Station.
