• Sitting on a hay bale listening to live music while sipping on a pinot at the North Canterbury Wine and Food festival

• Look for the bright red door of The Little Vintage Espresso in Amberley and that's when you know you're in for a treat - muffins are a must.

• The honey chicken salad at the Rotherham Hotel! Delicious every time
• At Georges Rd winery you can build your own platter, picking from a selection of locally-sourced cheese, spread, crackers and breads - and then the best bit is you can enjoy it with an amazing mountain backdrop.
• Wood-fired pizzas and beer at Brew Moon is a wicked combo
• Hanging with the locals at the Alpine Village Inn on a Friday night - mostly for the banter but also the meal
• After mountain biking in the Hanmer Forest, the next stop for my mates and I is Mumbles Cafe for a date scone and coffee
• Catching up with friends over beer towers and chicken wings at Fire & Ice in Hanmer Springs
• Foraging for truffles in a truffle hunt is so cool - Jax at Kings Truffles takes you on an adventure with one of her truffle dogs, before cooking up a feast
• Celebrated my 60th with my family and friends by taking the e-bikes for a spin along the Waipara Valley Vineyard Trail - stopping at wineries whenever we fancied
• Greystone's long lunch and wine-tasting is such a special thing to do for any occasion, as we did for a significant birthday.

• Resting and relaxing in the beer garden at the Amberley hotel - love the wine barrels as tables!

• I never go through Hurunui without stopping off at Nor' Wester cafe for a coffee and scone
• Cheese rolls from the Cheviot Tea Rooms - Mum was in heaven
