  • Parking up under the trees at Red Post with a cuppa in hand - yes please!
  • Paris Bakery has the most epic almond croissants
  • The historic Hurunui Hotel has such a special atmosphere - like stepping back in time
  • If ever I go to Hanmer Springs, lunch is always an epic steak and cheese pie & tan slice from the Hanmer Bakery
  • Georges Road is dotted with wineries and a sculpture park, making for an amazing day out
  • I love the smooth and creamy flat whites from Bunco Café in Amberley
  • Sitting on a hay bale listening to live music while sipping on a pinot at the North Canterbury Wine and Food festival
  • My husband and I love the combo at Terrace Edge - a toasted sammie and Syrah. Yes please!
  • The Powerhouse café in Hanmer Springs - we love the smashed avo but also the EV chargers!
  • We always stop at the Culverden tea rooms and cafe for the best ice cream before making our way further north.
  • There's something so cool about stopping at the Amberley Farmers market and getting goodies like walnuts and fudge, knowing they were made right here in Hurunui!
  • I'll always find an excuse to stop at the Culverden bakery for a custard square
  • Wining and dining at No.31 is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had - you must try the lamb!
  • Look for the bright red door of The Little Vintage Espresso in Amberley and that's when you know you're in for a treat - muffins are a must.
  • I like buying from Cheviot's Harris Meats because it's real pasture to plate
  • The honey chicken salad at the Rotherham Hotel! Delicious every time
  • At Georges Rd winery you can build your own platter, picking from a selection of locally-sourced cheese, spread, crackers and breads - and then the best bit is you can enjoy it with an amazing mountain backdrop.
  • Wood-fired pizzas and beer at Brew Moon is a wicked combo
  • Hanging with the locals at the Alpine Village Inn on a Friday night - mostly for the banter but also the meal
  • After mountain biking in the Hanmer Forest, the next stop for my mates and I is Mumbles Cafe for a date scone and coffee
  • Catching up with friends over beer towers and chicken wings at Fire & Ice in Hanmer Springs
  • Foraging for truffles in a truffle hunt is so cool - Jax at Kings Truffles takes you on an adventure with one of her truffle dogs, before cooking up a feast
  • Celebrated my 60th with my family and friends by taking the e-bikes for a spin along the Waipara Valley Vineyard Trail - stopping at wineries whenever we fancied
  • Greystone's long lunch and wine-tasting is such a special thing to do for any occasion, as we did for a significant birthday.
  • Do yourself a favour and try the brioche french toast from Better Half Kitchen and Bar
  • Resting and relaxing in the beer garden at the Amberley hotel - love the wine barrels as tables!
  • The stonegrill at Saints - it's like I cooked the perfect fillet of steak without actually having to do any of the hard work!
  • Pegasus Bay winery gives me fairytale vibes, and looks as beautiful as it does in pictures!
  • I never go through Hurunui without stopping off at Nor' Wester cafe for a coffee and scone
  • Cheese rolls from the Cheviot Tea Rooms - Mum was in heaven
  • Leithfield Pub - it's an historic pub. What more could you want! We love a place steeped in history.
  • The caramel slice at Pukeko Junction is my all-time favourite slice! How do I get the recipe?
