The Cob Cottage Museum and the Old Presbyterian Church Heritage Centre
The museum and heritage centre both house an extensive collection of donated items.
These items range from household memorabilia and clothing through to documents and an extensive photographic collection which has recently been digitised.
This is a great resource, with over 5000 photographs and growing and covers the Waiau, Rotherham, Culverden and Hanmer Springs area including Lewis Pass, Glen Wye and St James Station. A fantastic asset which is regular used by researchers, advertising and genealogists.
The old Waiau Jail is located on the Village Green and nearby is a fully restored Roadman's caravan originally built in Waiau and donated by the Hart family.
The museum volunteers open on Sunday afternoons from the first Sunday September until the last Sunday in May from 2pm until 3.30pm or by appointment which can be made by phoning: 03 315 6599 or e-mailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
Rates: entry is free but donations are gratefully received.
