Underneath the trees, in the Heritage Reserve opposite the Green, lies the Hanmer Springs Craft Market. You may have spotted it before, or you may be new to the region - this is one Saturday pastime you can’t miss.

Whether you’re on your way to the pools, or having breakfast across the road in the Village, take some time out on the way to check out the paintings, art prints, possum fur products and more.

The relaxed nature of the region extends to the markets. Locals show-off their handmade displays, enjoying the sunshine and if you like, they’re up for a chat!

Pick up some locally-made honey for the morning’s toast or indulge in coffee and tea.

The handmade soaps, candles and knitted items are to die for. This is your one-stop-shop if you’re looking for a kiwi gift to take home.

Be quick – the market runs in the Summer months only and ends this April. But you’ve got most of the day to catch it, the stalls are open from 10am to 4pm.
